Should taxpayers pay $3.7 billion for confused military personnel who want sex change surgeries and hormone treatment? U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for 2018 would have banned Pentagon funding of “transgender” transitioning services for armed service members who had gender dysphoria. Hartzler’s call for spending on military readiness over political correctness apparently fell on deaf ears. With all Democrats and 24 Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives voting against the amendment on Thursday, the measure failed by a vote of 209-214. It makes no sense to create soldiers who are unable to fight and win our nation’s wars and unfair to non-transitioning individuals who must leave their families and deploy in their place.”
