Unplanned Movie Wins Big at Box Office

Despite being shot largely in secret to stave off opposition from the Left, being censored by Twitter, and being rejected for advertising by major cable networks, Unplanned, the movie that reveals the cold, mercenary death machine of Planned Parenthood, brought in more than $6 million at the box office and finished at number four on its opening weekend.

Unplanned is the highest viewer-rated movie of all new releases, way ahead of Dumbo and Captain Marvel. And now, in a twist of poetic justice, the film has more followers on Twitter than Planned Parenthood.

The Christian film is definitely resonating with viewers. Vice President Mike Pence tweeted, “More and more Americans are embracing the sanctity of life because of powerful stories like this one.” Breakpoint’s John Stonestreet believes it is a wake-up call for the Church: “What is surprising and what Unplanned exposes in a powerful way is how misguided, and even cowardly, it is for Christians to remain silent . . . Churches that are silent about abortion—because it ruins the positive vibe they want to have, or whatever—aren’t dealing in reality. To ignore this issue because we don’t want people to feel badly is to literally leave them in their guilt and shame.”

Whatever the impact, Pure Flix CEO Michael Scott hopes it opens hearts. “We hope that those on both sides of the debate will see Unplanned and begin to have their own dialogue,” Scott said in a press release. “This film can be that spark to bring more hearts and minds to understanding the value of life.”
