On Tuesday President Trump installed Diane Foley as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Population Affairs within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, making her responsible for Title X funding, from which Planned Parenthood receives approximately $60 million annually.
Dr. Foley is a pro-life OB/GYN and former head of a Colorado crisis pregnancy center. This, on top of Trump’s recently announced plan to restrict Title X funds from those who perform abortions, has made Planned Parenthood and other abortion activists livid.
Several pro-abortion groups immediately tried to discredit Foley. Planned Parenthood tweeted that she “used to run fake women’s health centers,” NARAL called the appointment “further proof that [Trump] and his Administration will stop at nothing to harm women and limit our access to vital healthcare,” and the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S. (SIECUS) called Foley “anti-science.”
Foley replaces pro-life advocate Theresa Manning, who previously served in the role.
