Our friends at 2nd Vote have uncovered a money trail that shows a link between United Way and Planned Parenthood, not just nationally but in Tennessee, too.
The watchdog organization reported that in 2016 alone, 62 United Way affiliates in 29 states donated $2.7 million to Planned Parenthood, or according to Planned Parenthood figures, enough to fund 2,901 abortions. In addition, 2nd Vote reports that between 2013 and 2016 United Way of Middle Tennessee gave Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee $254,341, while United Way of Williamson County chipped in another $12,373 between 2014 and 2015.
How did United Way respond to 2nd Vote’s report? The organization stated, “only a small number (less than 3 percent) [of United Way affiliates] provide direct support to Planned Parenthood. The amount of financial support represents less than one-tenth of one percent of total United Way revenue.”
What United Way fails to understand is the value of a life. For conservatives, any life taken through abortion is important. As 2nd Vote Executive Director Robert Kuykendall explains, “Planned Parenthood is being exposed for what it is: an abortion business and a left-wing political operation. We believe that our research is giving conservatives and pro-life activists a resource to hold organizations like United Way accountable.”
