Illinois Abortion Law Even Worse Than New York’s

If you thought New York’s abortion laws that legalized infanticide were bad, you need to take a look at the Illinois Reproductive Health Act, SB 25.

This bill establishes abortion as a “fundamental right” and gives unlimited access to abortion through all nine months of gestation and up to birth for any reason. Moreover, the bill specifically provides that a “fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus does not have independent rights under the law of this state.” The bill also rolls back state restrictions on partial-birth abortion; provides no religious or conscience-based objection to any individual, business, or organization; eliminates waiting periods, parental consent, and criminal penalties for abortionists; and allows even non-physicians to perform abortions.

The bill passed the Illinois House 64-50 and passed the state Senate 34-20. Once signed by Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the bill will go into effect immediately.

Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver said about the bill, “This a crime against humanity.” Added Peter Breen, a former Illinois representative and Thomas More Society vice president and senior counsel, “This bill remains the most radically pro-abortion measure of its kind and would make Illinois an abortion destination for the country.”

Illinois Child and Family Services Bows to LGBT Agenda

The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services has instituted new procedures that will severely limit the free speech and religious liberty rights of any volunteers, staff members, caseworkers, and foster families who still believe in a binary definition of gender—that there are only two sexes, male and female.

Under the new procedures, children are not only encouraged to explore their sexual orientation and gender identity, but no one can question a child’s exploration and, certainly, no one can recommend to a confused child a biblical and scientific perspective on the sexes.

Children will not be placed with potential caregivers who fail to affirm the LGBT pro-transgender agenda no matter how competent and loving they may be. In addition, employees run the risk of termination if their beliefs differ from the LGBT standard.

Graduation Speech Pulled for Christian Content

Thirteen-year-old salutatorian Seth Clark of Akin, Ill., wanted to talk about God in his grade-school graduation speech to his small group of classmates but was denied the opportunity by the school district’s superintendent, Kelly Clark, who pulled his speech. One of the young Mr. Clark’s neighbors came up with a solution; he invited students to come to his house across from the school after the graduation so that the young Clark could give his speech about God’s forgiveness and living a holy life. An estimated 50–60 people took him up on the invitation.
