Study Shows Link Between Suicide and Contraceptive Usage

A new study by Danish researchers published in the American Journal of Psychiatry shows that hormonal contraceptives have been linked to increased suicide. “The patch” hormonal contraceptive has been linked with the highest increase in suicide or suicide attempt, followed by intrauterine devices (IUDs), the vaginal ring, and the birth control pill. Women most at risk are teenagers due to typical hormone changes during this developmental stage.
