The WNBA’s Seattle Storm hosted a Stand With Planned Parenthood night on July 18 that included a rally and fundraising efforts, marking the first time that a professional sports franchise has officially partnered with Planned Parenthood. For every ticket purchased, the Seattle Storm donated $5 to Planned Parenthood. Additional funds were raised through a silent auction.
While the Seattle Storm was playing ball and playing politics inside the arena, pro-life group Created Equal was conducting a peaceful protest outside. “Professional sports franchises are free to do as they wish, but it is our responsibility to make sure they know that enabling child-killing will come at a significant cost to their bottom line and brand,” said Mark Harrington, the national director of Created Equal.
