Human Rights Campaign Comes Unglued Over TN Bill

This week the Commerce Committee in the Tennessee Senate unanimously referred a bill to the full Senate that would prohibit rogue liberal mayors and cities from trying to impose on local businesses liberal personnel policies beyond what state law requires. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) said the bill was “a thinly veiled legislative assault on LGBTQ Tennesseans and their families” because “government agencies who choose to take action to protect LGBTQ people would be barred from doing so.”No, they are just barred from imposing any requirement on a business beyond what state law requires and subjecting business from a variety of unlawful and potentially contradictory requirements. It will be interesting to see if business groups are now afraid to protect their own business interests if HRC protests.
