Easter may not seem like a good time to think about the political positioning that is already taking place between Republicans and Democrats and potential presidential candidates in anticipation of next year’s election cycle. But Easter actually puts these political tussles over power into a right perspective.
In the heavenly worship service recorded in Revelation, we are told that the twenty-four elders cast their crowns before the Throne and cried out, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for Thou has created all things and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
Wouldn’t it be great if our politicians were willing, in deep humility, to acknowledge that God alone is really worthy of power and offer the crowns of power they seek to Him for Him to use for our country’s good?
