Tennessee’s gubernatorial primary is getting down to the wire. However, don’t cast your vote on the assumption that the governor’s main responsibility is to “run” the business of the state, things like managing the budget and state employees. Most of that work is delegated to members of the governor’s cabinet, but that work is driven by the governor’s policy decisions.
So, it is really important that the candidate be strong on public policy and experienced enough in applying a biblical worldview to policy questions to not make “innocent” mistakes that, in a heartbeat, can derail good legislation and spur on bad legislation.
Gubernatorial candidates can rely on polls, but once elected, governors have to rely on their worldview.
