On Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, pro-life Americans gathered to renew their commitment to overturn the United States Supreme Court’s decision holding that a woman had the constitutional right to end the life of her unborn child. But what few realize is that abortion was rooted in a Supreme Court decision, Griswold v. Connecticut, in 1965 that said marriage was not a reality emerging from the marital union but just an “association” of two individuals who always remain separate. Having deconstructed the sanctity of marriage, it was not surprising that eight years later the court destroyed the sanctity of life, which was ordained by God to flow from marriage. We must remember: to be pro-life is to be pro-marriage, and to be pro-marriage is to be pro-life. The two will always rise and fall together.
