This week Tennessee’s General Assembly reconvened, and the same is true or soon will be true for all of Tennessee’s neighboring states. Therefore, we would be wise to heed the Apostle Paul’s exhortation in First Timothy “that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
Christians ought to appreciate this exhortation, given the increasing attacks on religious liberty being made by those in authority. Just last month Colorado argued to the U.S. Supreme Court that it should be able to force a Christian baker to be part of a same-sex wedding ceremony. So, please, take time this week to pray for those who have authority within our civil government.
