Have a Glorious Christmas!

The words “Merry Christmas” roll off many Christian’s lips, but is Christmas really about merriment?

Certainly, it is a festive time, but in Luke the word first associated with the announcement of Christ’s birth is glory. Then a host of angels began singing, “Glory to God in the highest.” And after the shepherds found the Christ child, they left glorifying God.

It seems that glory, not merriment, is the word the Scriptures would have us associate with Christ’s birth, and for good reason; Scripture describes the sin from which He came to save us as that which falls short of God’s glory.

Christmas should make the heart merry because in Christ we behold God’s glory and through Christ that glory is offered for all eternity to those who believe in Him.

So, may glory fill your Christmas season.
