The election is over and now pundits have begun to debate what will happen in the coming weeks and after the new Congress is sworn in.
For many, election results produce feelings either of hope or discouragement. But the Christian’s confidence about the future does not rest in any political party, because no election can change nor thwart God’s eternal purposes, which were established before the very foundations of the world were laid.
That is why Isaiah was able to confidently say, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
So, the Christian’s response to the election should be to heed the Apostle Paul’s exhortation to pray for those “in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
