USDA Targets Meatpacking Plant for Marriage Beliefs

The USDA is threatening to shut down a family-run Michigan meatpacking company owned by Donald Vander Boon if it doesn’t stop showcasing religious literature about one-man, one-woman marriage in its break room. The USDA deems such literature “offensive and harassing speech,” yet ADF Senior Counsel Jeremy Tedesco responds, “Americans shouldn’t be threatened with the loss of their livelihoods simply because they live and speak peacefully according to their beliefs.”

Obama’s ‘Transgender’ Bathroom Mandate Rescinded

Through a joint letter issued Wednesday by the Department of Education and Department of Justice, President Trump withdrew the Obama administration’s Title IX “guidance letter” that mandated that “transgenders” must be allowed to use the bathroom and locker room of their choice in public schools. “Thanks to the Trump administration, parents and schools will remain free to protect the privacy and well-being of every student,” says FRC’s Tony Perkins. New Lt. Gov. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) and Gov. Haslam said in response that the state didn’t need to do anything now, which means local public schools will continue to be free to allow anatomical boys to use restrooms, locker rooms and showers with anatomical females.

FACT Fights Against Judicial Overreach and for the Integrity of the Family

The Tennessean article discusses the Insemination Statute Repeal, SB 1153/HB 1406. The bill repeals a statute that is being used by private litigants as a legal basis for arguing that it is now unconstitutional for the state to define motherhood and fatherhood in relation to biological considerations.

DOJ Takes Measure to Protect Privacy in Transgender Bathroom Mandate Case

The Department of Justice, under new Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has withdrawn a request from the Obama DOJ that would have blocked a federal court injunction against enforcement of Obama’s “guidance letter” purporting to mandate that bathrooms in public schools be designated by feelings rather than biology.

According to Gary McCaleb, senior counsel with the legal group Alliance Defending Freedom, this is “good news for the privacy, safety, and dignity of young students across America.” The injunction now prohibits the ACLU and others from threatening lawsuits against schools based on the “guidance letter.”
