California Legislators Call for Mandated LGBT Sensitivity Training for Teachers

California’s State Assembly passed AB 493 with a vote of 61-0 that if it becomes law would mandate every junior high and high school teacher in the state to undergo in-service LGBT sensitivity training that would force Christian teachers to promote gender identity and sexual orientation beliefs they disagree with and shame them for holding to biblical values.

In the name of ending bullying of LGBT children, the bill actually causes more bullying—now just directed at those who disagree with the program.

Based on training currently being offered, teachers would be forced to do things like refer students to LGBT activist organizations, help young children “transition” to their ”affirmed gender,” keep the knowledge of a student’s gender confusion from his or her parents, and even do away with sex-specific sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms.

The proposal is headed to the Senate Education Committee.
