Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts a Concern for Catholic Diocese

The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas is completely severing ties with the Girl Scouts in favor of pro-life, Christian-based American Heritage Girls.

The reason, according to Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, is that Girl Scouts of the USA is “no longer a compatible partner in helping us form young women with the virtues and values of the Gospel.” The Catholic organization strongly stands against the Girl Scouts’ ties to Planned Parenthood and their feminist agenda.

While the Archbishop of Kansas City is ousting the Girl Scouts on moral grounds, the Catholic Archdiocese of Denver is taking a moral stand with the Boy Scouts.

While not severing ties, Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila is only allowing boys who are not gender confused and heterosexual male leaders to be part of Boy Scout troops in the diocese. “Discussions about sexual attraction, orientation, and lifestyle choices have no place in scouting,” he wrote.
