The well-known evangelist who spent nearly six decades preaching the gospel around the world to millions, prayed with 12 presidents, and started the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, passed away at his home in Montreal, N.C., Wednesday after suffering from cancer and pneumonia.
Grandson Will Graham told the Christian Post in a statement, “My grandfather once said, ‘One day you’ll hear that Billy Graham has died. Don’t you believe it. On that day I’ll be more alive than ever before! I’ve just changed addresses.’ My friends, today my grandfather moved from the land of the dead to the land of the living.”
Graham is remembered for his fidelity to his wife, Ruth; his integrity; his love for all humanity; his ability to touch the hearts of leaders and those of different backgrounds and beliefs; and his solid faith in Jesus to save us from our sins.
FACT President David Fowler stated, “We grieve over the loss of one of Christendom’s greatest evangelists, Billy Graham, but as he would tell us, neither we nor his family grieves without hope. His Redeemer lives and so does he.”
