Abortion doesn’t just affect the pregnant mother; it also affects other family members as well, including siblings. Brothers and sisters who do not get aborted can wonder why they lived while there sibling did not and can often have performance anxieties.
Barb (last name withheld), who has worked at the AAA Center for Pregnancy Counseling for almost 30 years, said, “Up to 50 percent of all American children have lost a brother or a sister to abortion, making it much more likely that they live with a performance view of love: I was born because I was wanted; therefore, I better perform so they will continue to love me.”
For those who struggle with knowing that they had siblings die from abortion, there is hope through the blog Surviving Sibling.
