SUMMARY

As introduced, authorizes replicas of certain historically-significant documents, such as the Magna Carter, Declaration of Independence and Ten Commandments, to be placed in local government public buildings. – Amends TCA Title 5, Chapter 7 and Title 6, Chapter 54.

FACT’S ANALYSIS


The bill seeks to establish parameters applicable to all local governments under which a display of the Ten Commandments would be permissible so as to encourage a lawsuit over the constitutionality of displays to be filed against the state rather than against local governments that comply with the law.
